Rocky’s Reading Challenge

The Blue Rocks have once again teamed up with the Delaware State Education Association to bring you the hugely successful Rocky’s Reading Challenge.  This program is designed to show kids how fun reading can be.  Students are encouraged to read ten books and if they do so, they receive a free ticket to a Blue Rocks game. Over 180 area schools signed up for Rocky's Reading Challenge during the 2007 season. That means that approximately 17,000 students read their way to Blue Rocks tickets last season. Congratulations to all of our participating schools and readers.  Rocky was very impressed and hopes to have an even bigger turnout this year!

Rocky and the Blue Rocks are now accepting enrollment for the 2008 Rocky’s Reading Challenge Program.  Click below to find out how you and your school can read your way to a Blue Rocks game.  It’s that easy!

School Visitation Program

This past year, Wilmington Blue Rocks mascot Rocky Bluewinkle, along with a member of the front office, made over 40 visitations to area schools in DE, PA, NJ and MD. The focus of the school visit was to promote the importance of reading. The program lasted approximately thirty minutes, and was geared toward Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students.  All students involved were part of Rocky's Reading Challenge (see above).

Each year, school visitations take place during January, February and March.

Schools may sign up for Rocky's 2008 school visitation program by e-mailing their Community Relations Department. The Blue Rocks will begin taking requests for school visitations beginning on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Any requests before that time will be ineligible. The requests should include the school’s address, number of students K-3, and three dates/times that the school would like the visitation program. Due to the extremely high volume of requests, the Blue Rocks are not able to accommodate all schools.

Insurance and Financial ServicesIFS Outstanding Student

The IFS Outstanding Student rewards based program has been running strong since its inception during the Wilmington Blue Rocks 2003 season. Area teachers nominate outstanding students for a night at Frawley Stadium which includes a reserved seat ticket to a game along with on-field individual recognition, introduction on our RocksVision video board and sound system, official certificate of achievement, and a free hotdog and soda. During one particular IFS Outstanding Student night, the Blue Rocks hosted over 1,000 area children from area schools during a home game. Make sure your outstanding students are not left out! Schools may sign up for the 2008 IFS Outstanding Student Program starting in February. The Blue Rocks Outstanding Student Program is brought to you by IFS.
